Jeff Forrest Fells Foxwoods Field
Wed, 03 Nov 2010 05:56:21 -0700
Your new World Poker Tour champion is Jeff Forrest, who bested amateur Dave Inselberg for the title and $548,752 in prize money at the WPT Foxwoods when his pocket pair held up agaist Inselberg's top pair and gutshot straight draw. This was the first WPT event for both players. Pro Tom Marchese, a contender for Bluff Magazine's Player of the Year, entered play as the big chip leader, but a series of bad beats and misfortunes left Marchese in third place. For a complete recap, visit the World Poker Tour's official site.

WPT Foxwoods kicks off
Thu, 28 Oct 2010 17:15:25 -0700

Vince van Patten, Kimberly Lansing, and the Royal Flush Girls helped kick off the Foxwoods World Poker Finals earlier today. Among the players who will have to take advantage of late registration is Foxwoods spokesman Bernard Lee. You can't really blame him, though; he's a little busy playing the final table of the WSOP circuit event in Hammond, IN.

Perhaps the biggest news of the day, at least for the players, was the news that texting and Tweeting would not be allowed at the table. Christian Harder was determined to "fight the power", keeping us all up to date on his progress.

Deuces wild as 22 year old Flowers wins 2nd WPT
Thu, 21 Oct 2010 06:15:18 -0700

Congratulations to Randal Flowers, who takes home $831,500 as the WPT Festa Al Lago champion at the Bellagio. By the way, if you're curious, Festa al Lago means, "Damn, these young guys sure can play poker!" in English

The victory marks Flowers’ second WPT title, which is even more remarkable considering he is only 22 years old! He is the youngest player with multiple WPT titles. Flowers won his first WPT title last year at the WPT Spanish Championship in Barcelona. In addition to live tournament winnings totaling $1.8 million, Flowers also has accumulated over $2 million online. If you’re doing the math at home, that comes out to just about $3.8 million more than I earned before my 23rd birthday.

Pilgrim's Pride
24 Sep 2010 06:46 MST -0700

Before play began at the final table of the WPT Borgata, Dwyte Pilgrim promised to "shock the world" with his "Brazilian Gracie jiu jitsu" brand of poker.

We're still trying to figure out exactly what that means, but one thing is abundantly clear: Pilgrim is now the reigning WPT champ. Having survived his baptism by fire, he dropped to his knees, tears of joy streaming down his face. Dwyte Pilgrim entered the WPT as a respected "minor league" player, and emerged as poker's next star.
