According to a story by the National Review, and picked up by the Las Vegas Sun, Harrahs executives are accused of pressuring their employees to get out and vote for Harry Reid. According to a leaked e-mail, one exec wrote, "of those (employees) who don't go vote I need the info as to why." This could get interesting.

According to a report in the Seattle Post Intelligencer, prosecutors in Seattle have asked a US District Court judge to seize $553,000 from Secure Money, Inc., a company they claim facilitates payments to online poker players. According to the complaint, the Canadian company is accused of sending payments to players who won money playing online poker. As part of the investigation, an undercover agent requested payment of $200 from winnings earned while playing poker on Ultimate Bet. According to the report, Secure Money issued $2.7 million in checks to online poker players between June 2009 and January 2010, all with the designation" payroll" in the memo section.

Hopefully you're not too busy grinding to notice we have an election coming up. The Poker Players Alliance recently released their list of endorsed candidates, which include 43 Democrats and 15 Republicans. 56 of the candidates are incumbents who have already demonstrated support for poker players. Speaking as someone who can't even download certain online poker software based my state of residency, let alone deposit my own hard earned money into my own account, please take a look at this list before you head to the ballot box.

The DOJ announced today that Goldwater Bank settled a money laundering case that involved Poker Stars and "other offshore online gambling companies." Does this have anything to do with JD Newitt's subpoena to appear before the Feds yesterday? Is this part of a much wider operation? And more importantly, what implications, if any, will this have on current efforts to legalize online poker? Case Jack will keep a close eye on any developments in the case.

Michael the Grinder Mizrachi is being sued for breach of contract by a Texas company, Deliverance Poker. According to the lawsuit, Mizrachi violated an agreement to exclusively wear Deliverance gear by signing with Tiltware after his recent run in the WSOP.
The Grinder posted this response on Twitter: "In light of this week's news remember there are two sides to every story. I look forward telling my side and the truth coming out."

Atlantis Internet Group Corp. (ATIG) announced today that it has formed an agreement with Cake Gaming to set up an online poker network in tribal casinos. Relying on exceptions within the UIGEA for Indian casinos, as well as a favorable ruling from the Native Indian Gaming Commission, ATIG intends to provide "the largest online poker network in the U.S," said CEO Donald L. Bailey.
With all the poker action lately, both live and the WCOOP, this news seems to have slipped under the radar. However, it us sure to spur lively debate within both the poker community as well as in legal circles. Stay tuned, as we're sure this is not the last we've heard of this venture.
